Blemish-prone skin - What is it and why does it occur?

Blemish-prone skin occurs quite simply when too much sebum is produced, which settles in the pores and then turns into a blackhead. They are black and are often found around the nose, cheeks, and forehead. If it becomes inflamed, then you have a pimple. When the skin is stripped of oil, the inflammation can spread more easily and in some cases go deeper into the follicles, so it ends up becoming a sore and painful pimple. That is why the Nourishing range works to strengthen the skin’s own microbiome with documented ingredients, so the skin becomes stronger and better equipped.

What causes blemish-prone skin?

To tackle the problem, we first need to clarify what blemish-prone skin actually is and what can cause it. The main cause of blemish-prone skin is hormones and will therefore also be unavoidable at times. This of course applies during puberty, around menstruation and menopause, genetics, makeup, or a skincare product that has a clogging effect on the skin. It can also occur without reason, food, etc. So if you are severely affected, it is important to map out what the cause is. But one thing you can start with is cleansing your skin the right way.

Since a pimple occurs when the skin’s pore becomes clogged with sebum. Here you have what is called a blackhead. If bacteria then get in there, this combination will develop into actual inflammation and turn into a pimple.

Therefore, it cannot be said enough that it is important that you cleanse both morning and evening in the right way, where the skin’s own barriers are not removed. This is important so that the skin does not become vulnerable and not resilient enough.

Products for blemish-prone skin - Natural skincare from Skøn Skincare

We have designed our products based on an overarching idea that the skin’s own flora should be strengthened, even when you cleanse. Both of our cleansing products, Nourishing Face Cleanser Oil and Gentle Face Cleanser Mask, will therefore cleanse your skin without disrupting it. The skin becomes clean and retains its barrier while its botanical extract works to balance and strengthen the skin’s microbiome.

We recommend that you also use a good face mask. Here we can recommend our Ghassoul clay mask, which you mix into a clay mask a couple of times a week.
